Mercy BANDs Mercy BANDs

Many of our fellow Americans have had difficulty coping with the events of September 11th. "What can I do? I'm just one person." Mercy BANDs (Bearing Another's Name Daily) are Sterling Silver cuff bands (similar to Vietnam War Veteran bands) engraved with an individual victim's name. They serve as a living memorial and a symbol of hope. I wear one of these bracelets myself.

MercyBand.org is a non-profit organization.

The Tiananmen Mothers Campaign

I'm sure you agree that we should all have the right to express our opinions openly, without fear of recrimination at the hands of our government. During peaceful demonstrations at Tiananmen Square on June 4, 1989, millions of Chinese people got their first taste of political freedom, and a hope that they could have a say in their nation's public life. As we all know, that freedom was cut tragically short.
Tiananmen Square is the gate to China's future. We must keep such a spirit alive if China is to pass through its current transition peacefully. You can help make a difference by sending an e-petition supporting the rights of the Tiananmen Square victims and families at
FillTheSquare.org.
The Chinese government still has not acknowledged that the 1989 massacre was a crime against the Chinese people. Citizens are still persecuted and victim's families are cannot publicly mourn for their loved ones.

It is the dream of one student that he will be able to put a bouquet of 6 white roses (June, sixth month of the year) and 4 red roses (4th) on Tiananmen Square to mourn for those who have lost their lives in the bloodshed.
When you take 30 seconds to make a difference at
FillTheSquare.org, you can help make that dream come true. FillTheSquare.org will place a virtual bouquet in Tiananmen square for you, a symbol of your act.
So "Fill The Square" by placing the special bouquet on a virtual Tiananmen Square at
FillTheSquare.org.

RefDesk.com is a one-stop site for all things Internet: news, weather, sports, reference, encyclopedia, facts on file, FAQs, tutorials, search engines, Win95/98/2000NT, free stuff, games and much more. It's operated by Bob Drudge, whose son, Matt (The Drudge Report), you may be somewhat familiar with!
I also support this site because it turns out that Bob Drudge is a Delmarva native (he operates
RefDesk.com out of his Somerset County, MD home). Gotta support local folks, right?

Bartleby.com Great Books Online

While we're on the subject of online reference, Bartleby.com Great Books Online is a fantastic resource, especially for students. We're talking the Complete Works of William Shakespeare and Bartlett's Familiar Quotations online, in their entirety!!
You won't believe this.
Check it out!

The Star Trek Continuum

As you all probably know, I'm a BIG Star Trek nut, so here's a plug!

Stop by for all the latest news about the next Star Trek movie and

My Rick Springfield Tribute Page!

As you all probably know, I'm also a BIG Rick Springfield fan, so here's a link to my tribute page to
The Most Beautiful Man on the Planet!

Click here for a preview of Rick's new live album, "Alive - The Greatest Hits"

The Official David Cassidy Website And While We're On The Subject Of "EFX Masters" (Present and Past!)...

I've recently learned that David Cassidy has a REALLY nice website; complete with news, nostalgia, current tour information, and links to other Cassidy family sites (including fan sites for his brothers Shaun and Patrick).
Take a stroll down Memory Lane with David!

AskMe.com

AskMe.com is a different kind of search engine. Your questions are answered by real human beings, experts in their fields. For example, ask a question about, say, the best way to prepare creme brulee`, and a chef will answer! Pretty cool, huh?

The Urban Legends and Folklore Homepage, The Urban Legends Combat Kit, and The Hoaxkill Service

"This is urgent!! You must forward this e-mail to absolutely EVERYONE you know!!
You'll get money, and trips, and free clothing from Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills if only you'll keep forwarding this message!
If you don't forward this, you'll have bad luck for the next 40-leven years! You'll get a virus that will not only wipe out your hard drive, but it will erase all your home videos, break all your good china, and change the color of your house to neon orange!
Forward this message and save a little girl who's dying from some weird disease you've never heard of!!
I know this is for real because I received it from my gynecologist, and he doesn't send me junk...."

Ok, so I went a little over the top with that last line, but doesn't this sound familiar? I'm sure we all have received these "Forward this to everyone you know" e-mails.
I hate them. They are 99.9999% junk!!
I've found several web sites aimed at debunking these annoying net hoaxes and chain letters. The best ones are
The Urban Legends & Folklore Homepage, The Hoaxkill Service, and The Urban Legends Combat Kit. These sites provide excellent hoax information and effective tools for responding when you receive one of these e-mail irritants.
Don't fall for these hoaxes! They're a waste of time and bandwidth!
Check these sites out today!

WBOC.Com

I work here. Lots of nifty doo-dads on the company website, such as Live Video Cameras. Do stop by, won't you?

Classmates.com

Classmates.com is a pretty nifty website. You can register for free, and your name & contact info is put into a database with others who attended your high school. Membership is $25 for 2 years, and includes some nice privileges. Check them out!

gradFinder

gradFinder is very similar to Classmates.com. The difference is that you can register under all the schools you've ever attended, and all services are free! Check them out!

Gradfinder - Keep in touch with friends from school!

In Tribute

In memory of the late Charles "Sparky" Schulz ("Peanuts"), I'm posting a link to The National D-Day Memorial Foundation. Please stop by and consider making a donation in memory of Mr. Schulz (or any other WWII veteran). It's a good cause.

The National World War II Memorial

Perhaps you've seen the television ads featuring actor Tom Hanks ("Saving Private Ryan"), encouraging viewers to donate toward a national monument honoring the sacrifice of all those who served during World War II. The National World War II Memorial Fund still needs your help.
I support this worthy cause, and I encourage everyone to
do the same.
It is time to say, "Thank You."
