ALIVE, First-ever live album from pop icon Rick Springfield,
features new concert performances of all his greatest hits.

Despite having written and performed some of the most enduring pop music of the '80s, sold more than 18,000,000 records, had multi-platinum albums, been nominated for, and won Grammys, as well as earned 17 Top 40 Hits (including five Top 10s), baby boomer Rick Springfield has never headlined a live album -- until now. RICK SPRINGFIELD ALIVE - GREATEST HITS LIVE (Hip-O Records / UME), released January 30, 2001, follows on the heels of Springfield having performed in front of over 1,000,000 fans since 1998, amid renewed exposure thanks to his music being featured in films ("Boogie Nights", "Keeping The Faith") and a very popular television commercial built around his gold #1 hit "Jessie's Girl."

Recorded during his 2000 tour after the independent release of KARMA, his first studio album in 10 years, RICK SPRINGFIELD ALIVE - GREATEST HITS LIVE features live versions of all his most popular songs, including the Top 10 hits "Affair Of The Heart," "I've Done Everything For You," "Don't Talk To Strangers," "Love Somebody" and, of course, "Jessie's Girl." Also among the 18 tracks, including an extended medley, are full versions of his Top 40 hits "Rock Of Life," "I Get Excited," "State Of The Heart," "Human Touch" and "Love Is Alright Tonite." The medley includes shortened versions of his Top 40 hits "What Kind Of Fool Am I?" and "Don't Walk Away." Also highlighted is a live in-studio recording of the song he wrote about the death of his father, "April 24 / My Father's Chair."

Springfield's fans have clearly not forgotten their pop music hero. The object of a devoted, passionate and active fan base, (some of which provided the in-concert photos for the ALIVE CD package), Springfield has enjoyed a resurgence marked by SoundScan sales of more than 200,000 of his previous albums in just the past year.

Singer-songwriter-guitarist Springfield enjoyed hits in his native Australia before moving to America in the early '70s. After one Top 10 single (1972's "Speak To The Sky") Springfield started an acting career (although he continued to write and record), and first became a household name playing Dr. Noah Drake on the TV soap opera "General Hospital" in 1981. That same year saw the release of his multi-platinum album WORKING CLASS DOG which was soon followed by SUCCESS HASN'T SPOILED ME YET (1982), LIVING IN OZ (1983), HARD TO HOLD SOUNDTRACK (1984), TAO (1985), and ROCK OF LIFE (1988). KARMA was released in 1998.

Now Springfield is back -- LIVE for the first time.
