December 31, 2000

I rang in the new millennium with a grand adventure!! Shauna and I accepted an invitation from our friend, Karen, to join her in Atlantic City, where Rick was scheduled to perform a New Year's Eve concert at the Trump Taj Mahal.
Needless to say, we were very excited about ringing in the new year with our very first trip to Atlantic City. Excitement turned to concern as the big day approached. Weather forecasts predicted a New Year's Nor'easter - a monster storm capable of dumping FEET of snow at a time. Oh No! Would we be snowed in in Salisbury? Would Karen make it off Long Island? Would Rick be stranded at some airport between Los Angeles and Atlantic City, unable to fly into the storm? AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!
Long story short, we all made it (along with about 1,000 hardy RLS fans), and Rick, like the U.S. Postal Service lets neither rain, sleet, nor butt-high snow keep him from his appointed rounds!
As always, Rick was energetic, enthusiastic, and charismatic. He and the band put on a rocking show, and seemed to be enjoying themselves tremendously. As the clock struck midnight, balloons fell from the ceiling, and Rick and the band toasted the New Millennium with champagne. Rick played for another half-hour, and seemed truly reluctant to leave the stage.
I'll close by adding that December 31, 2000 was, fittingly, absolutely the BEST New Year's of my entire life - thank you for that, Rick.

Thanks also to Karen for making it possible. This wouldn't have happened without your help, and I owe you. BIG. HUGE!
And now for the pictures. Another BIG thank you to Karen for scanning a few more shots for me so I could share them with you all! Some of these are clickable thumbnails.
Enjoy!
